How To Use a Seam Jack

When you’re sewing thick fabrics, such as jean or leather, you may have wondered the best way to handle the fabric once its folded, leaving your sewing path uneven. Or maybe you’ve broken needles before handling this situation the wrong way. Here we have a simple tool and how to use it when sewing uneven thicknesses.

The reason we have a hard time getting a good stitch, or with breaking needles on thicker fabrics, is because the presser foot tilts as you go over a thick seam. A seam jack helps keep the presser foot even, so that the connection to the feed dogs underneath is even.
